Sports Day at SRMAB

Last Sat. we spent great time with our kids at SRMAB. I remember the good time of last year sports day and had a great time this year too. Loved to see their enthusiasm in all sets of game. Total around 12 volunteers were available from our side to help the local admin there.

A trip to Dandeli

Its a great place to visit and very near to nature. Night journey in train, we reached to the nearest station from Dandeli and from there we have taken bus to reach our resort.

We went for various adventurous places and for bird watching and wild life safari. Place is clean and have lot of potential within.

Plant tree

On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, we decided our full day activity planned for Desire Society. Trying to make it effective, some of us came with the plan of tree plantation. Desire Society is one of the awesome place for this work. Lot of empty ground and great enthusiasm in student for these activities.

Volunteers and Students have planted more than 30 plants and tried to follow the order of plants means memory plant at one side, medicinal plant at one side .. like that.

After doing that, one of our volunteers has given some gyan of why we celebrate Dussehra. Followed by this, they have done some Bhajan and Drama.

3 o clock, I decided to leave the place as they have to visit near by church. Most of our volunteers stayed and gone to the church as well.

Lalbagh visit - Yet another

Yet one more visit of Lalbagh. Some of my friends told me that join our meeting at Lalbagh. After long time, this Saturday was free, as there was no class at SRMAB and Anatha Shishu Sevashrama. So, I decided to take some photos. Taking photo alone is also quite interesting but after sometime you feel its better to have someone with you to talk. I have just clicked some of the snaps here and there. Nothing more or less to enjoy the roam around in lalbagh, because its all a lovers place. Anyway, nothing to mind in that. Our society created such restrictions for girls and boys that these are the only place where they can meet or touch each other. Such a society called themselves as "Cultured Society".. I simply shame.

Witnessed the God - Sachin

Today, I witnessed the best cricket in Bangalore when Master Sachin was replying Aussie's attack. It was my first experience of watching Cricket in a stadium. And I understood the pressure on a player.. player like Sachin.

Morning at Hebbal Lake

After a long time, today we planned to visit our all time favorite place - Hebbal Lake. Hebbal lake is located near Bangalore and a nice place to roam around and for photography. Specially excellent who are interested in Bird Photography.

Also, if you are keen in photography but don't have tele-zoom lens, you can find out many macro subject and do a good quality photography.

Sometime the lake view go awesome in morning when you can see the sunrise and it's reflection on lake.
I rank this place as No. 1 for photography if you are living in Bangalore and have all proper equipment with you. Off course, shooting a bird is a toughest job as you need to hear her voice, you need to follow the voice and when you reach to the subject, she will fly away. But it is all fun !!

South best place - Wayanad Must watch

It was my 3rd visit to Wayanad and it is like always an awesome place to enjoy life and time.

We stayed in Banasura hotel(a view on the image) and then it was all fun here and there. There are tons of place in Wayanad to visit which includes

- Banasura Dam.
- A waterfall near by this place
- Sochipara Waterfall

and there is a long list.

A talk to remember

Today, some of us went SRMAB. Priyanka and Arun reached early to installed JAWS(its a screen reader for Visually impairded students) on some of the computers. I was also planned to reach early, but on the gate I met one of the students who I remembered ever. His name is Amog, when I met him last year he was in 4th class, so should be in 5th class now. Remembering old days, he had cleared the 1st round of eye-check and doctor said that bring him in hospital for next round of checkup, looked like there is a scope of improvement. Like Amog there were 33 kids on the list. Every time I took them to doctor (generally we had taken them into batch of 10-10), I just hope that at least some of them get little vision. Oh, I forgot to mention SRMAB is a blind school for visually impaired kids. Kind doctors at Shekar Netralaya every time explained me the problem, every time it was painful to hear that. I don't want to share that here because blog space is a place to write good things.

That day, I was talking to Amog. He was telling me about his village and his parent. He further added that his father was very much worried about him, I told him not to worry. He told me that some doctor had screwed up his eyes. Finally he told me that a doctor of my knowledge(this all he explained me in English) told me that your eye can be rectified little with sixty thousand Rupees. I was some how enjoying his home story.

In the meanwhile, doctor called for his checkup. After checkup, doctor was explaining me the problem and Amog shouted from back "Madam can you explain it to me as well". She explained to both of us and it was almost the same story that Amog told me. Finally madam told me that under a severe operation, vision can be improved for 5-10 percent. Amog asked her "how much it will cost" and she told me "you need to consult senior doctor but it will cost around 60-70 thousand" and we both started laughing ...

Cooking - A big timepass !

For more than 7-8 years, I am cooking myself. In between for 4-5 months we put a cook(it used to be we, but now its I) but soon we discarded him. These days cooks are in high demand in a city like Bangalore which is full of Bachelor. And believe me, family people need cook more than bachelors.

Anyway, there are only 2 kind of people. One who eat tasty food and other school who eat healthy food. Problem of life is both don't come together in most of the cases. If you see a typical health conscious bachelor in market and unethically if you put your eyes in his bag, most probably you will find packet of oat, wheat bread, 2-3 real juice(Tropicana, they prefer), 2-3 packets of eggs, corn flakes....and the other who believe in tasty food, items go like this - 2-3 mixture packet, butter slice, juice(yes, it lives in both category)...

From past 3-4 month, I start eating eggs which is one of the staple diet for bachelors and so for me. By the way, if you have problem in boiling eggs, get a tip from me(as I am 8 yr workX cook). Generally egg burst(I don't know what term to use) at the time of boiling. So, put some salt in boiling water, that reduces the osmotic pressure and not allow egg to burst(You know, physics has its existence everywhere). Tip passed by one of my friends Manish, as I am new to egg boiling field(I used to be a vegetarian).

How to capture a typical waterfall...

This is one easy stuff if you have a good camera in hand. First of all I will show you some waterfall which are best captured:

You will not be always lucky enough to get a waterfall which is multi-directional or different streams are coming. But what you appreciate in these photos are the sharpness and the streaming of water.

Now, this is what you will get when you shot waterfall in automatic mode or with normal setting.

Now, change it into low ISO, 100 and shutter speed of 1/10 or 1/8, you will get something like this:

I made it black and white just for fun. But we can easily differentiate the water stream. Now not only this, as it go for low ISO, hand held photo can be tough to take. What can be done for that - there are 2-3 ways to overcome that.

1. Use tripod if you have.
2. Use IS lens, Image stabilizer lens manage small shake.
3. I don't have both and so, I always try to reach near the subject and try using small-lightweight lens rather than heavy lens.

Dilemma with photography !

Everyone feel happen when he get appreciation, someone saying "this is awesome man". What to take and what not to take is easy to judge, if your eye can peruse the beauty, camera can be. Today night I was roaming on my roof when I saw moon. This is the first thing I always notice on my roof. It was indeed beautiful like it used to be. But today the white cloudy shades and ring across it was making it more beautiful. I decided to give a try with camera. It is basic SLR camera with minimal lens configuration. I have one lens of 75-300 mm, which is fine for this shot. Now, what mode to set. Auto-mode - no way, it will start flash and flash means moon will look like a ... umm, white sphere, no spot will be visible at all. Manual mode need a great stability in hand or a tripod.

Now, I tried the best shot with changing shutter speed. Both the image have something to make me sad.

At second place I get the correct spots of moon but lost the ring/outside white cloud. In first, I got the outside white cloud but details of moon get lost.

So !! Has to satisfy with something.

People cry and People Die... !

I came from jogging and doing some kitchen stuff. I was worried about my body weight loss and in the mean time my dad called me. He had given me the news of Fire in one of the Buildings in Bangalore. In evening, fire caught in Carlton Towers, and I guess victim counts were 20-30. Figuring out the exact count is tough these days because Data Manipulation and hiding happen at different level.

Just surprised with my thinking, some stupid thinking of weight loss/weight gain and people die in a second or if more painful may be in a minute. Our reactions were going normal day by day on these cases. We just call 1-2 friends who were living in those areas... OK, you are fine. Alright, fine !!

Subrata, one of my office colleague pinged me and asked why we don't use helicopter for such rescue, Bangalore is a city of technology. Does it really make difference ? Slowly and slowly, we have developed a great ignorance power, which is good and bad as well. In TCS training days, one of our profession cum engineer asked us a question, why India is such a big hub for Software ! We spoke some bla bla .. and he finally concluded that Indians are cool, they don't go panic on small things, like some crash happened, some code is not working and that gives them time to think and to solve problem. How true !!

Yes, we don't go panic. I remember the day when fire alarm operation call for training people and his first line as usual was it should take 1 minute for you guys to come out and you have taken 6 minutes. We mummer "chill maar yaar" !! He spoke out some good way to save our life when fire catch the building. I swear, I remember all. Don't know how much people can apply when things really happen. Out of 9-10 death in this case, 5 jumped from eight floor building, surprise , may be not !!

Can't blame system(now). Either its a loss with system or a loss with mind, people die. We used to say.. oh this happened, how to save the next accident. Now, we say, oh this happened, when will next happen !

Simple life, good life !

It was late. Around 11.30, he opened the door and came inside the room. Room was dirty but there was enough space on bed to sleep. To sleep ... he was trying that from 4-5 days. A bed, a blanket and a fan was not enough to get a sleep, something else was required...

Leaving it apart as he was doing it from some days, he thought what to do. Some people live with this "change the world" attitude and soon they released that this is a shit idea. For a good life, change yourself, live a normal life. Normal life... yes, this question hung on his ass from so many days. He was figuring out what is a normal life. Office, movie, food, trip on weekends, TV show, cricket, shopping ??

There is a big risk in becoming leader. The very first bullet target you. If so, It's good to be a follower ? Its good to be a normal person, be a leader of your family, probably a wife, 2-3 kids, who will not shoot you in 99 percent of chance. Why to lead a path were bullets don't ask you even "who are heck you are". But then some such person "change the world". Great, respect them, they deserve ! Be a good follower of them !

A beggar on road ! Please, don't do injustice with your normal life. If you start thinking why the heck he wants money and 1-2 step ahead that these people should not exist in our country then please STOP STOP STOP ! You are going to miss something charming of your normal life. Probably you will be late in reaching home and you miss you TV show. Or probably you will miss that one liner jokes on Radio. Come on, your thinking will not change their life, and how come they are thousand in number and you are alone with the pressure of office, sexy wife, lovely kids. It is simply not possible !

Thinking all this and taking a firm decision to live normal, he thought it was easy to sleep now, but it was not... probably his some questions were still unanswered.

Things that matter

Soft rain started in Bangalore. From last 3 days it is raining and it is no more soft in feeling. Hmm, Last Friday I met one of my friends and coming back to my home. Near Kanakapura road(Bangalore), a smart old man caught me asking for lift. He asked me to drop near Ragigudda temple which is approximately 200 meter away from my turn. Ok, that's a fair deal. Though from last 2 months people find themselves offended in visiting that road.

New Bangalore Central(mall) came up near Ragigudda temple just opposite to Big-Bazar. So big bazar worthy customer can't leave that road, visiting mall is mandatory by Gen-X people and God believers, special Hanuman bhakat can't stop visiting Ragigudda temple. So, evening time that road is more like a girl watching road because you can't move your bike or car.

Anyway, smart old man got the lift. On back seat, he sat like an Indian traditional woman.. both the legs on one side of bike. This is a scary pose for driver and back-side both. Now he told me his story. Daily he got 10 Rupees from his son to go to temple and he saved it almost everyday. Either he got lift or he walk. He told "I am doing this from 6 years". So, Just did a rough calculation he did 6*365*10 ~ 22K Appox, he told me 20K, not bad. Now, that is good amount and awesome way of saving.

Too good !!

She was too young to meet a doctor. Today Bhumika was with me for eye checkup. Sometime I think I should learn Kannada because talking with these kids are too tough. Some grown up, manage English but small kids like Bhumika(7 year age) are too small for English even. Too young to learn anything other than smiling/crying.

It was not different from other day, then Vikram, my office colleague told me, "enjoy weekend". "Oh, weekends about to start" nice to know. I was on leave from last 2 days, many of us actually and its more worth than writing code or playing cricket at office. Today we have taken 13 kids for detailed eye check at Shekar Netralaya. They already visited the school last month and finalized 38 kids who can be operated further. Like previous day, we didn't get a cab/bus to put the kids at Shekar Netralaya. It is around 1.5 Kms from school. We decided to take the kids by walk but if you want to avoid main road it will be more than 2 kms. 7 out of 13 were bare feet...

Asking them, they said that they feel it better that way. Changing an existing system is tougher than adding a new system. It was not good for their health to walk like this but that was not a right time to give lecture. We moved, its regret to know that many people don't use brake of their bike in Bangalore in any case. I decided to do it 1-by-1, rather than telling our bikers to stop.

Hospital was crowded. For doctors also this is NGO work and so they can't disturb the flow of their normal patient. Kids got the chair to sit at least. To one of the excited kids Ravi Kiran, I asked "you want water". He replied "juice sir, it's hospital na". Finally the treatment started. And its hard time to listen new stories. Total of 3 cases, where it was a genetic problem. Marriage in same blood like with Cousin or relative, leads to this problem. What doctor sir explained me was - "getting married in same blood cause this problem at a dominant level. Maybe either his mother or father has this problem but not prominent but the next generation effect is very prominent. Lot of research is going on but we don't have any solid solution yet. "

Finally we got 4 kids, for whom vision can be little improved by glasses of power like +11, +10. Bhumika case was different from all of them. Her eyes are normal but brain connection with eyes never grown up. Can't do much. Research is going on ! One doctor was abusing us, that why you came for checkup now. You know its too late for many of them. "Even for some, it is corneal problem which can be rectified but now their retina are too weak to see anything. If your retina will not work for 10 years, how it should be". Hmmm.... correct ! Some got cataract which can be operated and removed. But again their retina are weak and so vision will not be improved more than 20-25 percent.

I am not writing this blog for any sympathy but just to inform that minor mistakes can lead to a severe problem. Out of 23, there were 4 cases, in which parents screwed up the eyes because kids claimed some irritation in eyes and they put some wrong eye drop/wrong medical treatment. Now, they are crying and why not they left with that option only. 4 cases, where marriage led to this problem. Take care !!

If you have any kid in your surrounding who has vision problem, don't wait even for a day. Immediate checkup is required. Eye power go down with a high pace. If someone die in your surrounding, request their relatives to donate his/her eyes. It's more worthy than what he had done in his whole life. God will definitely bless heaven to him.

Lets give a try before concluding that trying this is not worth. 15 still more to go !

Managing a different weekend !

It was more than a year, I traveled somewhere for fun. Our gang decided to have one. Where, was not a big question because we had our tripping expert Srikanth. Srikanth decided to have Chikamagalore(Hunkal Woods is around 40 minutes more) and hit the highest pick of Karnataka. Final calculation let only 9 people ready for trip. Last trip of Wayanard(an year back), was awesome and I was expecting this to be cool as well. Before this trip, I bought a Canon 1000D. I am still busy in doing the correct settings :).

PS: I am writing this blog for fun and feeling, not for providing information about the place.

7.30 AM : We reached the resort, it was completely awesome. After lot of fun like rope climbing, rather rope breaking :), table tennis and a cup of coffee, everyone got ready for trekking. We did the deadly breakfast and made the move. Trekking started with fun and fear. Fear of leeches ! Soon the trek became tough with steep climbing and sooner tougher because the path was through the water fall. Leeches were coming into picture but we had much bigger things to worry about. Soon we hit the pick. From this picture, you can see the trekking path.

Luckly moving down, it was a different path. I was talking with Srikanth about other trekking experience and he was explaining the team work, which was so true. It was all about patience, team effort and caring. Running fast is immaterial when the slowest person of your team decides your win. It's better to help that person to speed up rather than speeding up your run. We covered the whole path(up and down) in 5 hrs.

4.00 PM: Got ready for lunch. Finishing it, we joined for some game like Badminton, Cricket, Football. None of us were tired or may be so much tired that they didn't want a rest. Soon it was a lovely night with lots of star in sky. We put the bonfire. Care taker of that place started with some ghost stories but all were bogus and boring. Soon, we had finished our dinner and got ready for ...

10.30 PM: For another trek :). Wow, a night trek, sounds interesting ! Luckily all of us was ready for this. We took 2-3 massal, 2 torch and made the move again. It was supposed to be a short trek but how short, we didn't have any clue. I keep on moving with Vivek Anna's jokes. After sometime, we encountered the hunters who were looking for animal and told us to get back which was a reasonable suggestion. Back to home at 12.00 night. Some more talk and everyone went to bed.

Day 1 over.

Day 2: Nothing much to write. I wake up at 7.45 AM. Though we had to leave the place at 8.00, no one was in real hurry. Got some more time to play football and badminton. Finally we decided to move for Belur. It was supposed to be my second trip to Belur. But I enjoyed it second time as well. It took more than 100 years to complete it and why not. Art work is silently speaking about everything of that place.

Finally I am back at home with lot of wounds, cuts and fun ! "The biggest risk is to not take any.... ".

Learning and Unlearning

Learning at an age of 26 is tough. Because most of the time mind is in semi-learn state and for a semi-matured mind its tough to deny what you know(wrong or right). Let me explain you by an example.

If you are one of the frequent readers of this blog, you got to know that my English is pathetic. I do, on and off common mistakes in writing. WHY ? This is how I developed myself. But now, I am in a state from where unlearning and relearning is almost impossible for me. Not only this, when someone correct me, my first reaction is ... "this piece of junk don't have any work to do, read the content, why he is worrying about my grammar". Nothing wrong because this is how you(here I) developed yourself. After listening so many times, good blog, good blog, your mindset is very obvious. Oh, this guy is reading my blog, okay, he will say it's a good post. And certainly you will listen "your grammar usages are not correct", Ah "Go to Hell", an obvious reaction. Learning is tough and unlearning is toughest....

Ego - is it ego. No idea, but nothing wrong in respecting someone's ego. Ego is nothing - he has done something, may be in past, and he want to say, I know this(may be he don't know). Great, respect his work ! Ego is just a by-product of success, just what we call "superiority complex".

If you are smart, you will reply me "your blog is awesome, just a small correction is required here". Now saying this, you are showing that you take care of others feeling(so called ego) and you are not egoist yourself to be the best English maker of world.

Time is game. Someone replied you and if it hurt your feeling(have wrong feeling for right thing is ego), time play an important factor. If you have given your self no time, and replied it back. Your reply will be something like this "You piece of s**t, don't try to tell me what is wrong and what is right". Since we don't have guts to write like this, we write it in a nice ironical fashion. But if you have given yourself 2 min of time, you will reply "thank you". Now this "thank you" is deadly again. Because you have replied something else and something else is going in your mind. You are holding your anger for a long time. In most of the time it will simply disrupt all your work for a while. Hmm.. what to do.

I really don't have a good solution for it(please give if you have). But most effective way to outcome - 3rd party involvement. We get a 3rd man, who support your feeling and he will explain you "Arre, that guy is idiot, man, why you are listening him". Oh, you suddenly feel, 2 person(you, 3rd party) are thinking that he is an idiot. Good, good ! This is funny, but most effective way, which we all do !

Talk - its such a funny thing. It decide whom you like and whom you hate. Not only that, at a particular instance, you are liking someone or hating someone.

Oh man, I am writing lot of common sense stuff, don't know why. But something need to come out which stuck at my mind. Unlearning is tough than learning and tougher as age grow. So, get you kids learn good things at early age :), so that unlearning will be minimal.

Eye Camp

It was a big day for us. We were waiting for some result that can change life(s). I had already put leave mail, thanks to Sun culture where no one bothers about leave. But lot of our friends/volunteers already fought for their leave and made it possible, hats off ! Some committed to work in early morning, some committed to night shift but they made the day worth. It was an eye camp for the kids of SRMAB(Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind) and an important day for us.

Doctor had done their setup and we were all ready to control the flow of kids. Only one agenda - was he/she curable or not !! I was not there with any expectation but I could listen some "even if 10 kids can be cured, its a good number". I had done all these pre-maths last night with the conclusion that if things were not in control, wish for the best. Volunteers were all ready for the action. Faculties of SRMAB were ready to help and taken the work to get the kids from different classes. Principal sir has given their own big hall for checkup, so nice ! He is one of the most concerned person when it comes to student's health or treatment.

Dr. Smitha started with her examination. Before that, one doctor did the initial checkup. Like, he examined the eyes with torch light. If eyes motion exist on torch light that means retina is fine. If retina is not fine means eye problem can't be cured. Everyone has to go through the main treatment after primary treatment. For some, there were no eyes. For other some, there retina were completed damaged. Doctor Madam told us that most of them have mechanical injuries or severe infection. For other some, eyes were too small... God "some break is required". In break, God given 38 those kids out of 118 who can be verified/cured(chance) further.

One of the senior members who was Managing Director of Shekar Netralaya was explaining us other things related with this event. He was telling that eye donation is still weak in our country and I am requesting you guys also that whenever you go on any funeral, try to convey the family for eye donation. Eye can be donated in next 6 hrs of death and its best to keep the eye close and put some ice-cube over it. This will keep cornea safe for long time. He further explained that even you can go for Lasik treatment to remove your specs. Lasik operation, now a days can be done in 15 seconds and overall a day treatment. Adding further, he said "these days we do one or more lasik operation per day".

I got the chance to meet my old students, Renuka, Sheela, Kaushik. Renuka said that she was ill from 17 days. Her eyes...hmm it was different from my prediction. Doctor said her eyes could be further checked, that means some hope is still left. They are the most intelligent kids of SRMAB at least in Computers , just because they can't see completely and so they don't bother to know whats going on screen. Mouse and screen are two useless part of computer for them.
It was a great day with full of knowledge, good hope, some disappointment and fun with the kids on weekday. Our game plan for next action is all set and we need to put that in zero time. Losing vision in many times is a gradual process which can be checked with proper medication.

I am the Man !

Sometime, things not go in a way you want it to be. Yeah, but it was too early to predict and give up. For a change, I took an auto for my weekend work. Near Jayanagar signal(Bangalore), I see one guy coming out from opposite side near red light. By face, he was looking like a software engineer. Like a beggar, he was asking money in bus, in auto, 4 wheeler(beggar don't expect much with 2 wheeler guys, nice !). Little surprising, me and auto guy both starring at him. Not bothered to go into more detail. 100 meter ahead on next red light(yes, Jayanagar, 4th block market has 3 signals all 100 meters apart), there was a girl busy in same business. Decent Girl ...

She was also demanding money. Auto guy told me "that both are in relation and they are very rich, richer than me". He added "they stay near by". Before I asked anything, he added further "weekend per paisa maangta hai(They are begging at weekends)". I had no words to add, I just said "awesome". No one can jusify begging, neither a blind nor a deaf. Its not about losing a part of body, it's about losing only one part - mind. By the way, they were justifying it, weekend part time.. not bad !

We had planned for a test in our seva shishu aasram. It went OK, my expectation was much higher. We are missing something, still the performance of students were not upto mark. Something is missing, something is wrong... I am not able to find out. They are doing ok and its too early to expect...

We were discussing something after the class, outside the campus. A man entered with his wife and a kid. Kid..hmm 2-3 years of age I guess. Ajay(one of us) told that they came to put this kid in this orphange home. I said no. Most of the kids they got from police or from hospital. But he was right. After some talk, that guy was back with his "so called" family. Started speaking something in Kannada and I said Vivek(one of us). Vivek explained us later that his 2 kids are already here and they(Orphange) refused to take 3rd. The man("so called" man) was telling that I drink a lot and I will die in 2-3 months, so I was requesting them to take this kid". I had nothing to say except "awesome". I remembered the new pulsar ad "I am the Man..."

It's good to think about society problem but ...

Old saying "Time and Tide never wait for anyone". But unfortunately I am not a good follower of this. I love time flowing without any output. I won't mind if my chat window is open from last 3-4 hrs or I take 1 hr to finish my tea. Its all fun. But in that case most of the time we need to ready with the backup of time which is time itself. At end, sacrifice sleeping time :).

3.00 Night: 2 days back: I was struggling with some security code and cursing myself I should have finish this in office but never mind, lets finish it now. Sitting for long time, back was paining. There is an interesting phenomena with pains, it always comes with boring work. I never felt any pain while chatting or watching movie. Main work was over and I had left with copy paste in some 20 files with same changes. Somehow, I learn lot of shortcuts of vi editor which always is a nightmare for me.

11.00 AM, yesterday : Tax return. O yes, when is the last day. Someone told me tomorrow. Today morning I searched my whole file/folder for form 16A and finally I got that inside my bag. I reached office, asked my friend, what to do with this. He told me tomorrow is the last day. He knew that I will delay it for one more day. One of my friends told me it's easy to fill online now. And he explained me complete stuff, its really easy. I saved my 300 Rs, just because my bones are lazy.

Doing everyone on time is good, but doing everything at the end of time is fun. It stress out, it can screw your work... sometime even it can break you and you will just give up.

Final conclusion: Don't take this path, but if you have taken don't worry of result :).

Sometime its quite strange to think of a person, who is talking to you, can't see you. I mean we never get to know what picture of us .. he sets in mind. They never asked me what is the color of my T-Shirt, what is the color of my face. I guess, It's more or less the same when we listen to Radio jokey and say ah this girl must be beautiful as she has a nice voice. Oh my God, if that is the case, their self-depicted picture for me would be horrible.

Last weekend I was talking with one of us about the eye donation in India. I remember that Aishwaya ad that used to come just before the news. Figures are not good. not good at all. Let me share some common facts about eye donation which we should know :

1. What is eye donation and how it works :

- Corneal transplantation is a surgical procedure where a damaged or diseased cornea is replaced by donated corneal tissue. Eye donation has to be done within 6 hrs of death. Why Donation ? The only substitute for a human cornea is another human cornea.

2. Awareness in India :

- I tried to figure out some data but there is no research done at all India level. B Priyadarshini from Madurai has done a survey in south India. 50 percent participant are aware of eye donation whereas only 22 percent know that it need to be donated within 6 hrs from Death. 20 percent only heard about Corneal transplantation.

I guess same data applied across India or even less can be expected as South zone is highly educated zone in our country.

- Approximately 840,000 persons developing a corneal ulcer every year in India; this is 30 times the number of corneal ulcers seen in the United States.
- Donation is even less than 1/10th of required. I don't know what can be the barrier in eye donation. Maybe our dead body is not looking as cool as it need to be .. what a rubbish !

3. What we can do :

- Almost everyone of us can donate eyes. Even a person like me, who wears - 3.5 glass.
- It will not delay your funeral arrangements for long. This is funny, we can't see that. It will delay not more than 2-3 hrs.
- Every religion support eye donation. Who really cares !

4. Time and Money :

- In Lab, Cornea tissue can be preserved and stored for several days before it must be used for transplant. But in our country demands are so high that it has been used or distributed in 1-2 days.
- In US, it costs around 4000- 6000 Dollars but in India it cost less than 700-800 dollars. Why ? - Because The healthcare sector in India is one of the best in the world. Most patient comes from outside for this operation in India.

5. Success Rate :

- Corneal transplants are highly successful.
- Possible complications with keratoplasty include infection of the eye, bleeding after surgery and failure of the transplant itself, but rate is very less.

6. Some more :

- Eye Bank says, There are currently 202 eye banks in the country involved in collection and distribution of donated eyes (data from Eye Bank Association, India - personal communication).
- As mentioned above : The current annual procurement of eyes for donation in India remains at approximately one-tenth of the annual requirement (data from Eye Bank Association, India).

Existence of God within me/without me

It was a funny day. Six Gmail status have something related with God.

My Delhi trip's are always exciting one. My big brother decided to settle down in US and my Dad took transfer to hometown Patna(there is a place which belongs to us, for everyone there is a place...). Delhi is always a common point to meet. Though most of the time I find only my mother near me. Like other mom's, she watch all kind of Saas-Bahu serials and associate the character of serial with real life. Fun was one day when she and a friend of her were buying some vegetable and talking "Akansha maar gaye(died)" and my father was in deep shock. Upstairs he asked "someone in this society ??" and then he got to know Akansha is a character in some serial.

Apart this and like other maaji, she go to Satyasang everyday from 10-12 AM. Actually I appreciate Satyasang work , if your Guru is good(which you have to suppose he/she is) he/she will relate God to real life and then you will sense a purity of what you do in daily life. Howver, my definition of God is something different. I just say it's an unbiased power that stop me doing wrong and start me for doing right. Yes, I do believe, I do have a God in frame and I do believe fate exists.

Hindu mythology is so old that existence of truth is no where or very less. But ever character is written by a Genius. Every single character is loaded with lessons and a common one "you have to pay for everything you did". It's almost impossible to think a Ramayana better than Valmiki's Ramayana or a Mahabharata better than Vyasa.

Yes, there is a different school which say "God exists within". They say there is no God in statue and frames. God resides inside us. The fav. quote of Kabir ...

"Pahan puje hari mile tu mey puje pahar
isse tu chaki bhali pise khaya sansar"

If we get God by praying stones, I am willing to pray whole mountain. Its better to use that stone in making chaki(wheat mixer made of stone), at least World can eat.

Hmm...what you say ! We are the God. Lets take it in most positive way. If we done great, be thankful to God(what it is ??), if we screwed up things, we are responsible not God :). Honesty is God, loving someone is God, crying in other pain is God, Smile is God, Patience is God, Giving is God... Yes, he is in action not in representation.

"Nadiya..", it was quite strange, I have never heard a name like "Nadiya...". Thought a bit who had given her this name. Came back from my thoughts and I asked "which class you study". She replied "2nd standard". Sometime back I got to know that they moved to the next standard, so I asked "completed 1st", she smiled and turned her head with a closed eye. It was beginning of our class at a new location, Sheva Shishu Ashram(orphanage home of 60 kids), with new excitement. She came near me and crossed her fingers with my palm and smiled. I asked "what is your name" ...

Don't remember the date, I asked one student "tell me about your best day" in an interview and he said "yet to come, Sir". 4 weeks back, our gang started computer class in Shishu Seva Ashram, Wilson Garden. It was a great excitement in kids. Before starting the class, Subhash(a bright student of Sheva Shishu) came to whiteboard and made the diagram "Parts of computer". I told him to add speakers and CD drive into the diagram which he had done it in 10 seconds and then labeled it. Class started ... "where we use computer". Abhishek(a bright kid of Shishu Seva) replied "Banking Sir". It was a fascinating answer and I remembered "best day is yet to come".

Common solution of common problem in a common city

1. You are finding it different from your world - different language ?

- Listen Music most of the time, buy items in bulk. Talk less, listen to them more.

2. You find city too costly ?

- Don't compare on absolute scale. I can get vegetables at 2 Rs Kg in Bihar, but I will not get a job. Best, don't compare at all.

3. You find people are not helpful ?

- Good people are always around. You need sometime to figure out. Servery your local market and try to figure out what is good and what is bad. Good is good, bad is not good.

4. Body not suiting the condition ?

- Its true, every time when you make change. Body need time to get out from comfortable zone. Eat safe, drink safest, at least for some initial days.

5. Hair Fall ?

- Follow above 4 steps. Hair fall for young is a sudden process, it's not gradual. Take extra care when you change place. If you are a junk food eater or a drinker, avoid it for some initial day. Don't take worries of not getting a room on rent, water is not coming bla bla .. just think 60 percent of population lives like that, you can as well, at least for 4-5 days.

6. Expense going too high ?

- City can't help. Last month I tried to put my life in least money. 3K is enough to do everything(house rent apart). Fun is not listening your girlfriend on phone for hours, fun is listening the air waves that hit trees in your park. Go and give a try.

7. Missing parents ?

- Then you never understood them. Relation is all about understanding, feeling has less work to do. Parents want you to do good, whatever you do, where ever you live. Remember their random lessons.

8. Missing friends ?

- Make new.

9. Weekend fun ?

- Figure out your passion, work on it. Figure out the society that needs you, help them. Sarukh has nothing to do with you and so you with him. Don't watch movie for sake of time pass. Watch if it's worth. Good news is 1 out of 10 is worth.

10. Sick of traffic ?

- Avoid it. Your boss will be happy if you reach office 1 hour early and leave 1 hr late.

Working Through Pain .. how through anger !

"This is how you can control pain. Pains can be either interior or exterior. Interiors are the one which we deny. Pains are leading down to the path we desire .... go through it !" Last Friday, I had injured 2 of my fingers and suddenly this dialogue flashed out in my mind from movie "Gotham Knight". Most of us have seen "The Dark Knight". 1st part of Batman movie was "Batman Begins" and very few of us know that there is a animated movie came in between these 2 to fill the gap between movies.

Gotham Knight is a splendid movie, with 6 stories in one movie. And the best one is "Working Through Pain"(Story 5th), a movie based on Indian Spiritual. Bruce(Batman) came to learn how to control pain from fakir but fakirs denied and he learned from a woman name Cassandra(now this not sounds like an Indian name). She taught that any pain can be controlled by spiritual power. Control your internal pain to overcome your external pain.

Yes, pains are part of life. The best way to overcome is to neglect its existence. If it take the shape of fear, it can be more dreadful.

Great, I need such a nice movie to control my angry. Lot of people complaint me that you got angry...soon... how to control it, when it come and go, if it's genuine why to control it .. lot of questions from self :).

Sleepless nights

Gradually I moved towards the clock and it was 4.00 AM(for absolute,else we call it night). Suddenly I reminded my college day when we were making a project for ST Microelectronics. We were working continuously on a problem for last 3 days, an open eyes of 70-75 hrs and yet full of excitement - zero pain. Finally we had delivered that in own style and ranked in top 3 project(this is how ST guys told us, for self-satisfaction, we said we were 1st :D )
Thanks to Vijay, my project partner and a great coder. He used to make 15-20 cups of coffee in a day to make us alive and forced us for zero sleep for 75 hrs. After finishing the project .. uff don't ask me, luckily there was 2 toilet in my flat :). Challenges can be conquered in many way, do a systematic work or do a passionate work... believe me both can't go together for long ! If he said yes, it can... he can only be your manager. I was back from my dream and it was 4.50 ... Well I most of the time choose later.

Knowing that I would make it out, I started searching for movies in my hard disk.. almost all were seen !! What ? Some were seen more than 5-6 times. I lost interest in watching movies and if I watch its a series movie of Super Hero's. Why not, we all are super hero... just that we are not bitten by spider or we don't fear with bats or we don't have a special sword.. everyone of us has capability to save life... more than ones, twos..or many !

I opened my laptop and start looking some animations(my work)... a vivid idea came to open gtalk and talk with friends.. but at that time I would get US guys, I don't like talking to most of them because they are busy most of the time explaining their problems which is not at all a problem in India.. like I am feeling lonely here.. what the heck, "I told you to go their and live a lonely life". It's always a choice to live with society and up bring it or leave the society and see a new one... decision is simple "Listen to yourself"

Though night was cloudy, I decided to move on roof to see what nature can show me. My mother used to do "Chhath" puja and we always had that excitement to see rising sun. We pray for rising and falling sun with a believe that "Sun is the only God which can be seen". People as usual demand their wish and God Sun is supposed to fill it. I don't know what she was demanding from last 7-8 years. Maybe, her children do good, ya...sounds like an easy guess ! God give more than what is required and less than what is desired and this is where fate comes into picture...

There was no sun but it's existence was claimed by lights. I was able to see those random buildings of Bangalore. There is a fun in randomness, we stop and try to find out a part of symmetry in it ... nothing is random.

I decided to move for office.. forgotten what happened last day and what will happen today. It's just a good day and no one can make it bad for me, except me.

Weekend with Champions ...

It was betting going in some of Pankhudi Volunteers( including me) about the Winners. Fortunately some of us had taken computer class for almost all the standard in SRMAB. My bet was on Harsha and Kaushik(2 bright kids of Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind). Off course everyone of them has a potential. Last Saturday we organized a typing competition in SRMAB ...

After first Computer class which we took at 10.00-11.20 AM, we left the school and went for Shopping. What to buy, what to buy ? Just close your eyes and feel how many gifts in your room are worth... hmm ! Maybe you left with some cloths but we don't know the winners, size were different + I have never seen them in any other dress than their typical red Shirt with black stripe. Finally the call has been made, we bought some bags and a cricket bat. Initial desicion was to buy a gift for all the participant but Deeptangan(one of us) said let it be a competition, why you are making them different from us... worth, nothing wrong !! Anyway, we have finished so called Shopping till 2.00, ran to our home because it was supposed to begin at 4.00 and this lazy bone need rest after sometime.

Ram called me around 3.00 PM, said that "there is no electricity and some computers are running on UPS(a painful UPS, that sounds more than me). We will wait till 4.10 and see if we get her(electricity) back". 3.50 he called me again saying electricity came back. And ... time to run. I reached there at 4.00 and like always all the volunteers were before me :(. Most of the kids were in hyper state, running here and there. Hitting chairs, hitting tables, hitting us, so happy and so painless... because they know pain can be conquered by more pain.

We had 2 story ready for 2 computer labs. They had taken their position and like all the time some were complaining that JAWS was not working... fine restart, Windows -> U -> R... I have pressed this key combination more than 500 times in last 2.5 yrs. Everything all set, Ram was dictating a story in one lab, in other lab, Srikanth and Priyanka. Rest of us left the place, I went for some more shopping :). Finally when I came back, it was almost over. I had seen the monitor of Harsha and I said he has done it again. Unlike others, he don't see toward his monitor, he see toward monitor to his left, so that his ears will be perfectly sink with Speakers. Puja, a dear student for all of us as she always keep on smiling (seeing this world, its tough to smile always... may be this is the reason she is ... ) was crying. Our queen want everything to be slow... slow dictation of story(saaaar, 1 min saaaar), which was not possible here.

It was finally over, everyone of us examined the work and yes Harsha (there was no fixing from my side, promise) and Sheela came out to be first. Sheela is a genius girl who bored out with things very soon. My second bet Kaushik came out 3rd. Some snaps of Prize distribution and Competition.

NO HORN PLEASE !

My finger was terribly shaking and I was just able to leave the bed after having 4-5 flavours of medicine at last night. First thought was to bunk but then I remember it's Friday and we have to play cricket. Though physical conditions invalidate the options of playing cricket, I decided to move for office. I was little scared of taking bike but we always have a fictitious command in the things which we know.
Moment I heard the first horn, I remember that I forgot ... my mp3 player(s). Yes, I use it while driving which is a bad idea but can't help. God save my ears ...

We are sensitive towards the thing which we don't like and same when I hear horns(necessary + unnecessary, its more or less like sum of 1 and 99). In Bangalore, horn sound will come in all variety seems like you are solving a complex H.C. Verma's Doppler effect question and want a practical before start.
Following the Doppler principle I was moving fast to minimize effect, when I say fast it's 40. I was happy that I reached near double road means I was just 5 minutes away from my office.
I stopped my bike at the first red light of Double Road, just opposite to that there was a cinema hall. Looks like they had shut down the theater and why not my first show there it was 4 people, 200 Rs. ticket per person. Come on its recession dude.

Anyway, I start feeling uncomfortable when I find myself surrounded by 3 autos. One of them trying to compete with Ambulance in no. of pulse generation per second by pressing horn. HORN AT RED LIGHT >>> DOES IT MAKE SENSE, WHY NOT, PRE-CACHING MAKE SENSE IN SOFTWARE, WHY NOT PRE_REMOVAL OF TRAFFIC ?? IDEAS ?? Combining all, they are ready to beat Ambani(don't ask which one) in terms of generating pollution per day. Just that Ambani bro's derives Indian Economy and they drive...

With a level of guts, I asked the auto guy on my left "yaar, auto ka pollution check nahi karwate ho kya", he made a scary smile and my guts level suddently reached to max. As I never ask questions from auto-wala's in Bangalore, they reply independent of what you have asked. But that guy, must be a nice guy replied "bahut din ho gaya hai"...these types of question are not FAQ and so reply came with a suprise way. "Hmmm.. (most matured answer widely accepted from my manager to my roomate, for the people who don't want to talk further ...) was my answer.

Remember "HORN PLEASE" on the back of truck, why not put a sticker of "NO HORN PLEASE" on the back.

Just open question, how to handle this situation... off course not by blogging !

Technology and Society

Lot of saying "In modern life, we are less social and most of the time we are centered with our own busy life". But I disagree.

Technology and Society are both binded with each other. Growth of one leads to the growth of other.

Now, Kausik, Sheela, Renuka, Nagraj .. these are the few Visually challenged kids whose computer knowledge are almost equal to us, leaving part the professional work. Let me tell you they are the kids of 7th and 8th Std(I guess in 8th std, I know how to start Television, never seen a computer)

They can write letter in Word, they can do any calculation in excel and they can make power point presentation for your manager :). And technology is related with it. It all works on a software, which we known as JAWS. Sometime development of software surprise you and this happened when I heard JAWS 10.0 can read a remote machine for you. That simple means if you are struggling with the license, you can help kids with remote machine :). Simply awesome !

But its important to associate the technology around you with society around you. Give yourself a break and think "how many of you from you"

Now, this blog space is only blogging about Environment, Development - How they do, how we do and about the future of children.

Life is going complex day by day but we always need to think more than self. Actually my mom used to say - Dog can also fulfill his requirement, how you are different from him. True, lets think socially. The society around you, the society who made you. So, join us (Pankhudi) if you need one more reason to live.

No one is slapping us !

Its all together great. SlumDog Millionaire won 8 Oscars. Direction rocked, Picture rocked, Rahman rocked.
Very regret to see comments like its a slap on India, they have shown the misery of India, poorness of India, slum of India. No this movie is not about slum of India, its about rise of a common man or a slum man from the slum of India. Every direction put spice in making and so little spice here as well.

Again, unnecessary to say that its a US directed movie. Doesn't matter, its a movie of this country, movie of Mumbai, movie of a billion heart place. If today a US director can make such a movie on our base, tomorrow we can ! Any award is more of a learning than an acheivement.

This blog post dedicated to all the riders in Bangalore and across India. Most common reason of accident at driving :

The pre-requisite is you are not drinking and driving.

Priority wise(5th is most imp.. though) :

1. Pedestrian + Bus + Bike -> Actually this makes an awesome combination of accident. Bus is moving at a speed of 20-25, Pedestrian do his own calculation and try to cross the road before the bus. He was right, but but .. a Bike of speed 50 is overtaking the bus and in a place like Bangalore you can't really see a bike behind the bus. So, Pedestrian cross the bus but he come right in front of bike. So, rest you can figure out.

2. 80 percent of Janta don't care while overtaking. Overtaking a vehicle from left side is wrong and while doing it (best don't do it).. take extra care. Last month, I met an accident, because I was doing this wrong and suddenly someone jump from a bus on me :). If you over take from left side, you will be on bus door side and hero's of India keep on jumping.

3. Slow down at turning and crossing : Bangalore in 1 km, you have to do 10 turnings and at least 10 place you will see road approaching from all side. So, take care at those position.

4. When you stop at a red light, make like distance from your left and right vehicles. What actually happen, if you are a slow mover and say on the right hand side of your bike there is a car, car guy will start moving and ultimately the car will do on your leg fingers.

5. MOST IMPORTANT : Most accident happens on the road which you know and because you are taking that road as granted. If you are 4 days out of the city and then you start riding again, you can surely and suddenly met a hole on your most known road. Which generally we are not expecting, so don't race if you know the track.

6. Overtake only if things are visible ahead : It will stop point 1 and let me explain with real life example. I was overtaking a bus, knowing that this is a familiar road and suddently a cow ahead my bike. I hit the cow, but you know cows are strong :).

There are some more cases. But Slow Speed is only one solution of all the problem.

- Don't carry your project tension and drive. Concentration is required at the places like Bangalore.
- Helmet is must, don't think you are going to just buy vegetables. Wear it, good things are for our good !
- Drive more slowly if you are two ppl on bike, actually its a matter of two life.

Ultimate Joker

Dark Knight is the biggest hit of year 2008. This movie got released on 18 July 2008 (India) and 3-4 days ahead in US. I don't know how many of us are animated hero fans like Superman, Batman but I am. I used to see Batman when i was 15. Indeed The dark knight is great.

Nothing to disagree, Joker is the best part of this movie. Actually some people live for a particular reason and so he was, yes he was Heath Ledger, The Ultimate Joker. He died on 22nd Jan 2008, means a time before the release and when movie was about to finish. Died at an age of 29, due to overdose of medicine. He has been nominated for Oscar before, but never got one. The Dark Knight is the best deal for Oscar, but he is no more to take it. Nevertheless this great actor will be known for his acting always.

A month back we had launched our site: http://donateyourpc.in, which was doing awesome. More than 12 volunteers and more than 10 donation in 15 days. And suddenly the site was done. It is still down because of the hosting company called manashosting. Initially we thought its a good place to host the site. Then after we got lot many problem with these guys, now site is down from last 10 days. And no action taken after 16 phone calls and from past 10 days. Bloody Money eaters !

Now, this is one of the big sucking time for me. Fighting with someone on phone for 30 minutes continuously and then abusing them(which I generally don't do, but I can't stop this), make any mind sick. And most of the time, we flood this utter frustration on someone else, someone we met on coffee table or in chatting window.

This is one of the cases. Service is poor and more poorer day by day. If today, someone want a service from Airtel, Vodafone or Reliance, I can bet you,they will frustrate you like anything. Month back, I saw an old guy(in 70's) shouting on a Reliance shop(JayaNagar, 4th Block) and service providers, the guys and the gals, literally no expression on face. I guess, these pigs are used to it.

Bajaj showroom(Popular Bajaj), bajaj is really a brand in India. Last year, I went to buy my bike. Everyone was going cool, till the point I made the payment. After payment each action takes at least 30 min and after showing a face and word that you lost your patience. Is it not really sucking ??

Dental Clinic near my home(Smile Clinic, J P Nagar), he gave me the time of 7.15 PM and operated me at 8.45. 1 hr and 30 min is important for them because they are making their business and not for me.

And the bad part is all these assh**es are used to it.

Consumer court is one way to put them on line, its little tedious but I heard its quite good now. What other way ?

Finally it got a start. We, 4 friends of our college friends(Abhishek, Ami, Ankur and me) started a online service for you to be a cause of something good. I personally feel that India uses more computers than any other country in the world and so we released that most computers after 3-4 years get old, configuration retired and a new design comes to the market. What do we all do with these old computers .. still in your home - taking space, planning to give away to your Neighbor's son. If you can think beyond the personal barrier and in the social arena then we request you to donate the PC through our new site, DonateYourPC.in. Changes - which looks slow

Human tendency and so mine, when they go into a city in which he used to live, he see the changes. Last month I have visited Delhi, where I live here almost 6-7 years .Last to last month I visited Hyderabad where I live almost an year. These are so called the fast growing city of India but somehow I am not impressed with the changes in last 2 year or so.

Talking about Delhi, the capital state, Roads always used to be good, so Government started some new kind of Buses which are very low and comfortable, some people call it big bus. Still newspaper is full of Blue-line bus accidents and cab accidents. Something happened wrong in terms of IT development in Delhi. As people saying, Delhi is one of the hub of IT sectors, but I felt it lacking in IT sector and more growing in BPO sectors. There may be some reason why Google, Yahoo or any of such big company are not opening there office(Development office) in Delhi. Since, BPO sector has grown wisely, cab accident, rape cases, murder cases increased(wisely). Rest of the things are gradually improving which is a demand on time, so we can't consider a development.

Hyderabad, 2-3 yrs back, one of the best growing cities still grow with a high pace. Big building are coming on the way and company preferences are no. 1 for opening a new branch/sector/building. Transport is still in panic mode, still there are no metro lines, traffic can kill your time in busy places, roads are as it is(good but not great). I have more hopes with Hyderabad in coming years.

Now, let me talk of Patna(I have not been there for 2-3 years) but I have seen the improvement in photos. As all of us know the disaster happened 2 months back, effect of that lot of people moved to Patna(capital of Bihar) side, causing more robbery activities because these are people who left they place flooded and came here without any job. Young Blood, without job for long can be a cruel mind. They don't think of eating 2 Roti in place of 4 but can think of putting a knife on your neck and force you to give 500 Rs. I have seen/read lot of robbery in Patna for an amount of 200 or 500 Rs, because situation force them to do that. On the other hand, roads are improving, bridges are coming. IIT got started last year. Some companies are ready to invest and overall infrastructure is coming from -2 to -1. See one new bridge and one new railway station:

Met expert at Petrol Pump !

Petrol drives a big part of economy. And this is how it is done in Bangalore :

Incident 1: Location: JayaNagar, 9th block, Petrol Pump:

Me: Give me 100 Rs Petrol.

(He has given me 30 Rs petrol.)

Me: 100 Rs Sir.

He made that 30 unit to 70 and start arguing, I have added 70 more. So, its 100 now. Fighting for 2-3 more min, he added 30 Rs petrol more.

Incident 2: Location: JayaNagar, 9th block, Petrol Pump:

My friend: 100 Rs Petrol.

They set the meter at 50 and made it 100. After talking to Manager, he was able to get rest of his petrol.

Incident 3: Location: JayaNagar, 1st block, Petrol Pump:

Me: 100 Rs petrol:

He start filling it. And he asked me, when you have taken this bike. I just saw him and replied 8 months back and it was done. I got my 100 Rs petrol. I got to know there is some locha here. But I want to see the actual problem.

Next day, I went to the same place and start watching others.

One guy: 200 Rs petrol.

He starting filling it. Petrol filler asked some question. He turned up. There is one more guy standing near the petrol tanker and he is the one - The expert, the genius. He reset the button and type 200 there.

Sir, your 200 done. (Actual, he reset it at 130 Rs)

Then I have seen one car. 500 Rs petrol. The reset has been done at Rs 410.

Sad part is neither bike nor car can tell the exact amount of petrol.

Here, I told you the story of 2 petrol pump but this holds good for 90 percent of the petrol pump in Bangalore. Be aware !

It hits again. Here we have a major problem. I don't know why this problem, I see all the way in our country - We are reactive, we are not proactive.

30 Lakhs people, 38 district and money(who cares) this is the quantity we are talking off. I don't know for many of us it looks fancy but 95 percent of us have seen our village. Can you think of a picture in your mind - existance of your village is no more, it get flooded. Thinking itself is panic.

We are talking of Bihar, which is one of the poorest state in country. For central government it's just a place from where they can get some good amount of party seats. Kosi is all time called a face of disaster. But that's all a blame game. Relief is going when ? When, the affected people count will increase from 20 lakhs to 30 lakhs. Its just because they are poor, they don't have rights to live. Well, that's true. Its happen this time in a different way, so not a big deal. I have spent years of my life is Bihar and it always happen. Story of Kosi is not a new sensation for me. We all maintain a personel boat in home, so that we can go and buy some eatables.

I just wish God give them power to fight with the fate and hope to see a brighter day. Wish I can go back and see my place again.

Years back someone has told me to blog on Service Oriented Company(SOC) and Product Oriented Company(POC) but then I decided to write my experience from TCS to Sun. TCS is one of the India's best Service Oriented Company and Sun though lacks in little business but one of the makers of Cutting Edge technologies. Though my experience of TCS was horrible but again bad luck is the entry point of Good Luck. Out of my 11 months of TCS job, I have done around one and half month of training in Orrisa. Point to be noted : SOC focus a lot on training, companies like Infy and Satyam also provides a regress training. After 2 months of training, I was on bench for 6-7 months :-). No, I have not done any crime in Training, I was a good student in the mass. My wrong decision(every wrong decision gives you the capability to think right) was to select Hyderabad center. Point to Note: Most of the SOC gives you offer to select the place because they have office across India. As a career beginner, I had accepted my bench, whereas I heard some good news about my friends working in Mumbai and Bangalore office. After 6 month, I got an offer(offer means order in SOC) to join Mumbai office. In one night, they have shifted some 70-80 bench Engineers to Mumbai(SOC keep on doing such stupid move). Mumbai, ahh, I like the place,people. I finally got an over crowded office. I had Project in my hand but oops, I didn't have computer. Finally I start working and decided to quit when I got an offer(I already described this word) to do night shift. Finally my TCS job ends up with 2 month of work and a overall experience of 1 yr.

Then I joined Sun at Bangalore, there is no option, because it has only 1 office located in India. Open culture, where people play cricket inside office(till they break the glasses). Most of the engineers working from home. Pressure is less. But off-course you are always surrounded with talent minds and they can put you in inferiority complex and push your heart somewhere to do better than what you are. Food/Canteen was not as good as TCS and it was justifiable because for 200-300 people you can't expect an awesome caterer. Seats are pre-allocated before I joined the office. Work is cool and calm, you just have to reply yourself.

My point is, nothing is good or bad. Everything gives us a new experience in life. Be handy, take the challenge as simple as it can be. Best part I learn in TCS is, never keep on singing your problem, everyone has its own bundle.Listen others, they will be happy and you forgot yours. Best in Sun, I learn is to be independent as much as possible, at least in your work. Just one line of Einstein thought "I am not smarter than you to solve this problem, I just stay with problem longer than you".

One year back, Blog word didn't exists in dictionary. Now it is ! Even though I have searched a lot but I got some vague results. It defines:

It's a short form of web-log. Web pages that work as a journal that are normally updated daily.

I guess this is not what blog means. It's a platform to share knowledge, writing thoughts, reading thoughts, kicking your ideas and provide a virtual existence of the same what you are in real. I regret to say for some this definition is : to copy thoughts, to make money, to do time pass, for fashion.

I have seen people writing such a sober, free minded blog that you just read and you feel relaxed. But, I don't know what happened with us. Actually some companies made it a marketing place where they can sell their product with your thoughts and ideas. Now it all depends what type of blogger you want to be : a free mind writer or a money making writer. For first one, you don't need anything, just set the mind free and write whatever attracts you, remember Shakespeare resides within us. For second one, you need to be technically strong, learn how Google page ranking works, see how feeds work, see how you can increase the number of hits, see how you can fool others, see how you can grab some good ideas of others.

Lot of people disagree my ideas. Why I should not gain, if I am writing something good ? Good point: I remember the dialogue of Joker in the Movie "The Dark Knight" - "If you are good in something, don't do it for free" and yes why not, if you think "words can be sold", sell it ! Why only writing, even sell what you speak. Tomorrow when you sit with your friend, tell him after the end of 1 hr talk, you need to pay me 100 $$.

My simple judgment: Do it(make money),if this is your profession, but don't do if this is your hobby. And remember, there is only one profession, do that with Power and Pride.

CD format in Vista !

Ah awesome Problem. Yesterday I came to Hyderabad to meet my friends here. In some free time, we tried to install Ubuntu on Abhishek's machine. Machine already got Vista so doubt was very high from my side for installation. And again, machine is AMD64. Anyway, first I tried to install from from Hard Disk. We are looking for Ubuntu 8.04 installation which you can do inside windows and the installation is awesome. Uninstallation is like do in Add/Remove Program in Windows, you will get a application with name Ubuntu, click Uninstall and that's it.

Anyway, installation directly was unsuccessful. Then we tried to make the ISO file and then tried to installation. But here goes something funny. CD size was 702 MB and the ISO file is 698 MB, so not a big deal. Before opening the CD, Vista do formatting of CD and after formatting it makes it 692 MB. OMG !!! what is this. And I for testing purpose ran the formatting again and size of CD went to 683 MB ! What the heck. Our final conclusion if we keep on formatting a CD on vista, size can go to zero :-). Still we have not installed Ubuntu on Vista, will keep on updating the problems.

I have thought of world after 18-20 years from now. Please add if you have any serious or funny concern to add here:

1. Water is going to be the major concern. Very possible, we need to manage it per person rather than paying the bill at the end of month. Water tapes are like phone booths where you put a coin or 5 and water will come out for limited time. Maybe in office, you have to swipe your card for getting water.

2. Bicycle is one of the items in demand. Petrol cost will either go too low because of some revolution or it will go very high and may not be accessible to everyone. Not only cost, pollution coming out from these stuff will also need a check. May be, government will not allow you to drive your car more than 20 Kms per day.

3. Electronic items will be too cheaper and maybe one of the most giftable(I don't know this word exist in dictionary) items. There will be lot of company which just do the recycling of electronic goods.

4. Most of the systems will be governed by Software and there is a good chance(I don't want) that some big incident happen due to hack or misleading software mechanism.

5. Terrorist will hit the target more than what they miss. Crime will go in a more organized fashion.

6. Global Warming hmm .. "we should not", "we have to" should be the action.

7. Blogging is one of the major channel to communicate. Social network have power to do things.

There are some more .... I am not inspired by any English movie. I have perfect believe that Robot is not going to walk with us in next 20 years, neither we will see any superman flying in the air.

Autowala: (He will take the head up, think like he is thinking some rocket projectile equation)... he will go without speaking a word.

Occurrence: 30 percent
You: Forum ?
Autowala: 20 Rs. extra Saar.
You: Why ?
Autowala: (if its weekend)traffic saar..(if its weekday) no return passenger saar.

Occurrence: 80 percent

You(in night at 7.30 or 8): JayaNagar ?
Autowala: 1 and half saar. (1 and half rate goes after 9)
You: 7.30 boss
Autowala: No saar

So, here are 7 reasons:

Chasing dreams and being practical

Suri: As they sat behind the railway booking counters, few would have spared them a second glance. Crouched over the desk, furiously counting money and issuing tickets to impatient passengers - that’s what ‘office’ was for the two of them. Surely one of the most monotonous jobs possible, you’d think. But now the names of Ravikant Singh and Keshavendra Kumar are on one of the most elite merit lists in the country. Both have cleared the civil service examination this year: Keshavendra bagged rank 45 and Ravikant 77.

Till the two friends join the IAS academy in Dehradun, Kumar will serve as the railway booking clerk at Suri station in Birbhum. Singh works at the same post at Ukhra station in the neighboring district of Burdwan.
Their theme for a dream can be traced back to their first meeting in Barrackpore. Both of them had seen struggle in childhood, and could relate to each other. As they were both employed with the railways, they vowed to pursue better careers together.
The going was far from easy. Though Singh and Kumar had graduated from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), they did not have the family support to study further. Singh, who hails from the Akhilitolla village in Bihar’s Ara district, lost his mother in childhood. He and his five siblings were brought up by their father, a milkman.
“We were extremely poor and looked down on in our village. I wanted to prove myself and the only way to do that was to work hard. I knew that my father was in no position to send me to a good school or pay for private tuitions. What I needed was a job - any job to support my family,” Singh said.
After completing schooling from Ara, Singh joined a Barrackpore college. He cleared the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examination and joined Eastern Railway as a commercial clerk in 2002. “I could not dream of becoming and engineer or a doctor. But I knew that becoming an IAS officer was within reach as I would not require much money to prepare for the exam,” Singh added.

Generally I write fun loving things on my blog. But sometimes news and happening force you to think and ... to rethink. I love my country and I guess everyone of us love it. But we can't hide the ruthless face of this country. There is a high degree of crime and there are some states which have not been progressed even a bit from last 30 years.

List is very big, if we start counting the person died because they have tried to do something good. And same happened with Lalit Mehta. Jharkhand based this guy was killed on May14, simply because he want to do something good, fight for right.

More details are covered here and one of the my friends Abhishek has written and even fight for justice. Nothing has been done from last 1 month by Police/CBI and I am not even expecting. From here, I can simply aware people to have a look, where we are going !

Sometimes I feel helpless and getting an internal feeling what we are doing is all crap. We are here to see news and laugh on it. If we are good, then we can be a part of news like Lalit.

Where is Web 2.0, I am hearing Web 3.0

I tried to find the meaning of Web 3.0 on wiki. And wiki ... : "future of WWW". Not even 2 years back, I heard the same for Web 2.0. Web 2.0 defined by O'Reilly in this fashion:

Scenario:

One of my friend, Ankur passed this link : http://www.verveearth.com/landing/. Is this web 3.0 ? Sounds like.

This link will show you all blogspot blog on Google earth. Data moved from Database into representation format, offcourse RICH. And this is what written about application "VerveEarth is mapping the internet's content onto a global map. Discover the voices of your world. Get started by exploring the map or registering to add your blog." And Yes,this is RIA(according to me). Internet content is enormous, scattered in a useless format. Gathering those information, giving a useful shape and presenting it on a RICH view is what I thing Web 3.0 is.

Google is going great, but still some of the web tools of Google sucks. Two of them are blogspot(which I am used from long time and can't leave now) and picasa. As technology and programming languages growing rapidly, smartness of the software depends on how many pages I need to traverse before my work is done, how many clicks I need to do, how many hyperlinks I need to traverse. And I am surprised company which is one of the greatest promoter of AJAX, where things are done so smartly, itself use some useless stuff.

Condition: I need to upload 5 photos in my blogspot from its photo uploading option. It will give you to upload one photo at a time(what the heck is this), not only that after uploading that photo you need to close that option and have to start from beginning - pathetic.

1 photo -> Click on option -> See a new page -> Click on browse button -> Select the photo -> Wait for uploading -> Click on done button.
2 photo -> Click on option -> See a new page -> Click on browse button -> Select the photo -> Wait for uploading -> Click on done button.
...
...
...

Justified ? At least not for me. On the other hand, no doubts there are some cool feature like editing blog page, themes and many more. But there are still some more options which frustrate you.

Now, coming on Picasa, this is the real one.

- Click on next photo, photo will come in a blur mode and then it will be like that for next 20-30 second(mind it, my net speed is not slow). (which is great in flickr)
- Last week, my friend Ankur mention the great threat of using unlisted option in Picasa, which public generally thinks as private and safe options. (which is great in flickr)
- There is no code generation and no way you can give a static link of your picasa photos, so that user can only view photo not picasa UI(which is great in flickr)
- Photo uploading from offline Picasa tool to online picasa is a good option but if someone want to upload from online Picasa site, get ready to cry :)
- There are many more .. which keep on coming in my mind when I use this site.

I hope Google guys are taking action on these tools and will provide a better option soon.

I bet it happens with everyone "First impression is wrong impression" . Generally what I have seen is what I am writing.

Most of the time, in initial talks you see some people less talkative and not so user friendly but I am damn sure in long run they are going to be your good friend. Just give one minute break to your mind and think of your good friends, good friends of same sex. If its a matter of different sex, equation is complete different and I don't want to go further on that.

Some guys/gals you find in the initial meet very talkative but after 5 or 6 month, you feel him complete different from your initial experience. I have a valid reason to define my point. Silent person believes first on time then on knowledge. His mindset says: Let me take sometime then I will show you what I know. Whereas more talkative person which people generally feels more smart and dashing believes on knowledge and then time. His mindset says: Let me impress this guy first, afterward I will manage.

Both approach is correct. This is my personnel option. So no crimes. May be some crap !

Special Google filter for Firefox

I have almost left with posting technical stuff on this blog. But yesterday I got one great plug-in in Firefox customized for Google, they called it Customized Google - . It has lots and lots of features but the most existing one is to put filter on Google search. Great to see they have made the complete regular expression algo in Filtering.

So, if searching book you don't want to see the face of the sites who sell books like Amazon. Go into the filter option add: http://amazon.com/*.
In the docs search if you are only looking for pdf docs not ppt docs, put a filter http://*.ppt(I am just assuming, I am writing it correct).
You can also block virus containing sites if you know the name or even guess the string of it. For any sub-page block, write like http://sitename.com/*.

I mean, you know how much one can play with regular expression. So, go ahead and block the crappy things for you. Great news is there is no effect on response time of search. Great going guys !

Earth's Day

Welcome to the celebration of Earth's day. These are intended to inspire awareness of Earth's environment. Its now mandatory rather than optional to think of problems we are surrounded with. We have reached on the peak level of destruction of our own planet and I guess now even good effort(s) were not stopping disasters happening with Global Warming. Days are not far when we need to break our offices/buildings and re-create them in a eco-friendly fashion. AC will not work in office for longer time and in the meantime it will be tough for us to live without AC. I have passed some of the suggestion to the concern person in my office that what we can do:

Why not Light Saving day: Bangalore, India(where I am working) is a cool place and most
of the time Bangalore temperature varies from 20-30 (used to be ). Can we make, better
to say celebrate, Light Saving Day per month where we will do the minimum use of Electricity that day ( a day can make a difference). We can have less AC operation, we can switch off the alternative cubical lights, we can switch off the gallery lights and many more. It definitely need
Employee's cooperation.

How mass transport works: How mass people move is always a big question, and very unfortunate to say people here use bikes and cars. We should have a great mass transportation bus service.

Dust-bin usages: Why not to have two separate dust-bin, dividing bio-degradable and non bio-degradable wastes. This will definitely help in saving lot of man-power, time and machinery which divides it in later stage.

Most important, changing human mind: Lot many ways to do that: putting posters, showing movie like an inconvenient truth, making some official discussions. Keep on reminding everyday till it will not fix in the mind that WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING.

It's all funny. I was looking at a link sent by my friend Prashant that deals with some of the Podcasts related to Computer Science by Harvard Extension School. Finally I reached to Vol 15 and I got this section -> "Learn How Dress Like a Geek"

Can you make a guess, where the company spends most of it's money for it's own employee ? Yes, you are right, its the employee salary. What's next, where is the second highest ? Any guesses ! You may or mayn't be surprise to know it's your phone bill. Normally, in a decent company, work culture demands to have one phone per person and you are free to call Local/STD. Sometimes even ISD's are allowed if you have lot to interact with your onsite customer. We misuse it, we misuse it badly. I have seen the people who use the phone for more than half of his working time(I am not working in a call center). Sometime it upset me and most of the time it irritates me. It can irritate anyone who is not using this facility and who is in near vicinity of someone who uses it.

You can't believe, I asked some people bluntly why you are using office phone so much and replies were funny:

- Boss, it is included in our CTC.

- Yaar, you are not married. You can't understand.

- Little phone work today... there today never ends.

More funny, some people have list, which all number I need to call today offcourse from office.

If you are those who use this facility must have closed this blog :) but if you are on other side, I will request you to make a check on those people. How ? Kill them :), abuse them, keep on laughing every time they call, start doing some mimicry, pass there resume to call center :). Do whatever you want to do.

Weeks back, Forbes Magazine announces globe wealthiest billionaires. Nothing surprising to know that out of 10, 4 are Indians. For some it sounds like a matter of pride, but ... ? Where India stand as income per person ? I guess no where in the top 100 list. I don't know the current list but 6-7 years back, it was 1000 Rs per person per month(I guess right now it is something around 2500 per month) and in the state like Bihar it was 200 Rs per person per month(which is now, I guess 500 Rs). What to say ? Lots of questions ! Why such a big difference exist in our country only ? Rich people are growing day and night and poor people are not growing even in decades. Is it not right to question the system ? Is it not right to question ourself ? What we are doing in surrounding to remove this so called natural imbalance ? Every question has one common solution and that is education. We need to spread education as much as possible. Fortune of educated people are they can't live without money.

Offline Blogging - ScribeFire

Last week, I have attended IndiBlogger meeting in Hyderabad. Meeting was quite good though the strength was some 50-60 people. It was in Microsoft campus. MS guys also gave a presentation on Windows Live Writer in which you can do offline blogging. Like all the time, it runs only on Windows box.

Exactly the same, offline blogging idea came into my mind some 10 days back and I have posted one question
in my official blog talk. Engineers told me there are some tools that are doing exactly the same job :-|. I have start using one of it which is awesome "ScribeFire". Best part its a add-on with FireFox. So, no additional process kicking off. Browser based, platform independent - where Mozilla can run this can run. HTML support, Tagging support, Pinging support and many more. I was just looking for some export option as well, but not able to find.

Jackie Chan - Man with guts !

In last one month, I have seen almost 70 percent of Jackie Chan's movie. This guy had started his career against Bruce Lee in movie Fist of Fury. Surprising to know that his all movies with Bruce Lee was a flop, just because both use different flavor of Martial Art. Last month I have watched his major breakthrough movies "Legend of drunken Master" and "Snakes in the Eagle's Shadow". Legend of Drunker Master would I say the best action movie I have ever watched.

Jackie do most of his stunt by his own. A near to death stunt in movie Armor of God in which he got a permanent hole in his head. He went through appox. 100 major injuries. Simply a perfect man who donated half of his asset to charity upon his death. By the way, there is no insurance company that funded Jackie Chan Stunt Team.

Most of us don't watch Chinese movie because most of the time they have same thyme but I would suggest all the action lovers to watch the Chan Movies like Drunker Master (All parts), Operation Condor and many more.

Last week I have visited Lucknow via Delhi and so again I got a chance to visit my college. Though nothing left for me but still some temptation. I have taken so many wrong decision at my college time, don't want the new comers to repeat the same but ... I am still find myself unreachable to them. They are doing exactly the same what we did, I guess even more panic than that. Lets see ... many night still I think God give me a chance to go back in college, give me a chance to rectify my mistakes.

Anyway, an interesting discussion... our HOD asked one guy how's projects going on. He replied, nothing great, there is no CALL FOR ACTION. And everyone started laughing... good one "Call For Action". I guess, this is the way we made ourself. From college to corporate we do everything on "call for action". If there is no "call for action", give me a break, new movie in Shipra Mall. Nothing wrong in it, if we are capable enough to do things on "Call for Action", its good. But sometime, we lose quality in taking action on final call.

After Saun Pollock, its Adam Gilchrist who decided to leave World Cricket. A man known to walk when he considered himself out, even before Umpire's decision. A outstanding cricket, a outstanding man. Many of us don't know but he is the ambassador for the charity World Vision, India.

I do play cricket and bat most of the time with left hand and for me its always be a special occasion to watch a man like Gilly. He surprise, surprise because he has the excellent capability to pick ball and that is very obvious by his pull and hook shots. See this guy against World faster bowlers like Shoaib(1999 WorldCup), he picks the ball so easily that you (at least I) can't believe. Most of the time, it surprises me how this 37 yrs old guy generated power.

Wicket-keeping record is just awesome. Wicketkeeper responsibilities are always harder one,when almost 50 percent of the bowl were stopped by wicketkeeper... when its a edge, its a throw, a left delivery, anything .. finally it comes to wicketkeepers hand.

And unlike other Australians, always calm, out of controversies. My tribute to a man who wrote the success story of Australia.

I don't how many times in our life, we are giving right feedback to people. Very likely case, we are listening to a presentation from last one hour, literally not getting any thing. Not only this, you know no one is understanding it but we all are just listening it. Listening it,because ..... we are like that. Whats wrong if I leave the hall, whats wrong if I say the presenter that stop your pathetic presentation. But we never did ! And giving a wrong impression to the presenter that you are giving some thing very fantastic.

I don't know its a Indian mentality or something else to give respect to person even if he doesn't deserve it. Some kind of fear, some kind of mentality ... but we follow this, and we follow it religiously. Give me a break man !

Filling some stupid form with lots of radio button is not the only way to give feedback, rather this is the most inefficient way to give feedback. Maybe I am little blunt in this case but say the guy, your presentation is pathetic and you too. I don't mind at all if someone will tell the same to me. Come on you are grown up, if you can't make a good presentation, if you can't make audiences lively, you don't have any right to speak near hundreds and thousands of audience.

Days back I was updating my resume, not for any job, just like that :D. And I feel like how important blog is.Say,You have written an article and you want to put the detail in resume, just give a blog link :) and its all done. Ankit one of my friends studying in IMD Gurgoan asked me the use of blog and forum. I have given him some crap points :D but I guess blog is taking vital role in our life. Its like living in a virtual world where most of the people interact with you who don't know you, never seen you. But there is something common between you and him(blog reader) and that is the content written in blog. He is reading your blog(s) because he is keen to know what you have written.

Considering all these facts I guess writing good informative blogs are important,making it as readable as possible. Person like me, who has a very weak English grammar and always has those "key words" in common speak, need to take more precaution while writing. I have seen more than 100 sites which just do analysis of blog, nothing else.

Though blogging is in its pre-matured age, I can feel its dependency in my life. Love to see people blogging, love to see techies blogging. Just feel, we are making a virtual world, containing its own social values also. Welcoming you again in the world of blog space.

A small favour can help us !

Some day back I have written a blog " We have to make a Justice !" talking about Global warming and some of the environmental problem we are facing day-by-day. I was talking this issue with one of my friends and I have urged him to do a favour for me as he is doing his MBA and he is a hosteler.

We had a small talk about how to save electricity, of course the wrong consumption of electricity. And first thing that hits my mind was my college hostel. As a hosteler, it's our right to leave the hostel room's fan,light open for 24 hours. I know, not all but 30 percent of student thinks like this and 50 percent don't think at all. If the idea strikes in the mind "oh, fan is running... lets close it", then OK, else also OK. Rest 20 percent, ya they do close. And I am thankful for their parents who have given them a good social education.

Now coming back about the favour. I asked him "Have you ever seen the special lock people put in hotel ? ". Lets see the picture.

Its a small but very very effective innovation. At the time of exit from the room, when you take the keys out from this special switch, light of the room went down. And hence never been a problem to remember " I have closed the lights or not ... ". See such a small businessman idea, because hotel is never charging you for electricity, most of the time they charge something like 1000 rupees per day. And see how this small idea saves their at least 20 percent of the electricity consumption. Now, my question why not the same stuff applied to college hostel ? At least, its not in my college hostel and what I know at least not in most of the college in India. And with this question I urged my friend to talk with college management and tell them their business benefits. As like hotels, hostel fee is also charged on year or semester basis. About the expense, I guess 300 Rs per room, that's it ! Ya, I know there are some other problem "where to dry my underwear" ! Ah, come on, give me a break.

From my blog, I am requesting all my hostel friends to think about this idea. We are ready to talk of pros and cons off course. But please do think !

Basic Education System - We are losing lots of TARE

Basic Education System in our country(I don't know about other countries) is always a debatable issue. To say basic, it is more than Vth or Xth Standard. Yes, I am talking from class I to BTech, MTech. From the early age itself, children are force to memorize things. Start seeing the world from the eyes of teachers, parents. I remember those funny days in my BTech, when we used to memorize all the things in Electronics course and my friend used to ask " Hey Vaibhav, on which question I have to write this stuff "

After sometime we start adapting this world around us. Somehow the life in making assignment, memorizing whole stuff for minor exam, major exam, minor project, major project ... went so busy that we start losing our innovative mind. Innovation is not about sitting idle, it's about sitting free, free with mind, watching things around us.

I thought of our education system hundred times. We need to respect little mind, else what is the difference left between us and machine. Re-thought after watching movie Tare Zamin Per ... excellent movie with lot to say for society, Hats off Aamir.

Morning of a new Year. Yesterday night I was watching the movie "An Inconvenient Truth". A documentary movie by former United States Vice President Al Gore. Amazing movie, with lot of facts, in fact lot of fearing facts. The most unfortunate fact is we know the threat but due to our busy life we never bother to think about facts like Global Warming. Yes, this is what shown in the movie Old habit + Old Technology = Predictable risk but Old habit + New Technology = Unpredictable risk.

Movie starts with very funny way "I used to be the next president of US" - Al Gore.

Global warming is one of the most important concerns in last 2-3 years. 2005 onwards, nature is playing ruthlessly with us. Hurricane Katrina, Wildfires, Coral reef Depletion and many more are the outcome. We are losing most of the species, mosquitoes are going high on the altitude. After all these, we are not reacting because nothing happening with us .. us in personnel life. Is it ? Thousands of people died at the south coastal, thousands of people died in summers due to dramatic rise in temperature. We never think all these in traveling our AC car. Though Science is doing it's duty. Technologies are changing rapidly, trying to make itself eco-friendly. But how about us ? Consumption of MWatts of Electricity in a IT Hall, just to make a Road Show, is it justified ?

How to go, what to do, how to make a difference ? Lot of questions, I was thinking whole night. We have to make a Justice, justice with self.

Happy New Year and Have a Eco Friendly 2008. Nature is most beautiful if we let it to be.

Though there are some fraud cases but it seems to be a growing market and people find it better than the conventional tradition marriage. These big giants like shaadi.com, bharatmatrimony.com are coming up with new ideas. They are planning to collaborate with companies,the big companies which carry lot of young men and women. And off course some transparency mechanism from which people find their data safe and secured.

Definitely going to be future market and a pillar for economy. As a Engineer I feel very pleased to see the flow of data here and there. I am writing this blog, you are the reader. My personnel data is there in my profile.Say my fav. movie is Patch Adams. I get to know all those people who like Patch Adams. I have reach to their blog, I can get some information about Patch Adams. Information, better to say Knowledge follow from one place to other in some seconds.

Another example, Say Sachin is my fav. cricket player. I started with him on wiki. From there I moved to India. There I got the information that India is the world 3rd largest economy in terms of purchasing power. Thats fine, who is the first. One click, oh its US. And it keep on moving ...

Internet is prefect place for data flow, data in terms of information, in terms of knowledge, in terms of raw data. Just as a user we need to take care of certain fact, not certain only one. DON'T MISUSE IT.

At night, looking those lovely stars one can think of going there.A symbol of luck, a sign of love. But practically it carry an immense heat which can burn anything from man to planet. Two weeks ago, Scientists discovered a new black hole ,supposed to be largest ever(under the same category).

Black Hole is again one of the most surprising entity exists in Universe.Funda behind Black Hole is very simple. Every mass has its escape velocity, say earth escape velocity is 11 km/s ( I remember those funny questions in Physics book - a boy is throwing a ball with escape velocity :)), I guess the correct line should be Shaktimaan is throwing ball with escape velocity :D ). So, anything moving faster than 11 km/s will escape the gravitation of earth and will go somewhere in space. But there are some body exists, some dense body, from which even light can't escape and those things are called "Black Hole". Black Hole is generally made up of Huge massive stars. More interesting, how to find the existence of black hole, because existence of most of the heavenly bodies are by the reflection of light but this is not the case with black holes. Yes, its difficult to find the existence of black hole. Generally scientist get it by the behaviour of stars and gases near the black hole. Gas and near by stars pulled towards the black hole.

Very surprising but have to respect the laws of nature :)

IT day in Bangalore.

Ah today is holiday in Bangalore because it's 1 Nov(Karnataka Day). What I remember is only few of our states have anything like this(State Day). 1 Nov is little special for me. Because last year 1st Nov was supposed to be my joining in Sun. Yes, I have completed one year here in Sun and in Bangalore too.

Coming back to Bangalore, IT day is going in Bangalore. Today was the last day. My roommate Prashant went for it. Met some nice people there and some people working for Quillpad. Quillpad(because English is not enough! ) is a very nice site, which gives you a notepad facility to write in your favorite language with correct spelling. Site provide some 6-7 language support. By default http://quillpad.in is http://quillpad.in/hindi/. Just type Hindi as we are typing in messenger and it will auto correct the spelling or give you a list of suitable words very similar to MS Word or OpenOffice word.

Panchatantra

I was searching for some of the old things I like to do. One of which was reading, not even reading watching Panchatantra ke khaani. Most of the stories are simple awesome. It is one of the oldest stories known in the literature of India, probably as old as Rig-veda. We almost lost the original script of Panchatantra. But then there was a brahmin Vishnu Sharma who had re-originated it for the dump sons of a King. As the King's Son were all useless :D, he used to pass the wisdom in the form of fables. Pancha means five and this story set illustrated five principle for success in live, that is

- Mitra Bhedha
- Mitra Laabha
- Suhrudbheda
- Vigraha
- Sandhi

means Loss of friends, Gaining friends, Conflict between friends, Separation and Union. (Not impressed with the definition of five :-| )

Ah finally able to make out something. Yes, Sun Microsystems is ready to take one campus ambassador from my college, Jaypee Institute of information technology. A very nice program of Sun, where they generally select 5th sem guy and teach them Sun technologies like Java, Solaris, Appservers and many more with a stipend amount of 8000 Rs not dollars :).

Angad Singh is the 5th sem guy who got selected for this. He is happy and me too. At least got a chance to do something for my college. Still a long journey to go, still lot of roads to cover.

Sometimes life goes very stagnant and you will not find anything to write. Anyway, reading others blog I came across a professional blogger " Digital Inspiration". This guy is writing hell lot of techniques related to software and some of the uncommon tricks. From saving YouTube videos to faxing from Skype.

Lastly I came across a good tip from " Digital Inspiration". Spam control from gmail account. At the micro level he found a good way to use gmail features. Funda is if you have a gmail account say vaibhav@gmail.com then vaibhav+blog@gmail.com is also a perfectly valid account and fortunately mails will come on vaibhav@gmail.com. So this guy speaks a good point whenever you give your gmail account on any of the site put something with + symbol. I guess the best is to put site name itself say vaibhav+pvrcinemas@gmail.com. And now whenever you will get a spam, you can easily trace out which site is creating spam for you :).

Liked the songs of movie Awaarapan. Mahiya sounds good,sung in a good way and again a copy of Pakistani song. The live performance of this song was given by Annie, a Pakistani singer. Here is the video:

Movie considered to be one of the costly movie of Mahesh Bhatt, something around 18 crores.

It seems that Bollywood movie losing it's own meaning ... either story copied from Hollywood or from Tollywood(Telgu and Tamil Industry), same with the lyrics and music. Now even Pakistani film, i guess they call it Pollywood :)
